Volume XI Number 13                     November 18, 2009From the Principal… SCHEDULE ALERT! Beginning Thursday, November 19 – 24, we will be on Conference Schedule. Second period classes begin at 8:45 AM and dismissal for ALL students is at 1:50 PM.
Wednesday, November 25, is a Minimum Day. Second period classes begin at 8:35 AM and all students are dismissed at 12:30 PM for the Thanksgiving Holiday. School will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 26 and 27.
“Sleeping Snow” This Weekend… Tickets for the drama fundraiser, “Sleeping Snow”, are on sale at the school office. A minimum $5.00 donation is suggested. The play is at 7:30 at the Albany High School Little Theater this Friday and Saturday nights, November 20th and 21st .
PTA… Our next PTA meeting is Thursday, December 3rd, at 7 PM in the AMS library. There will a special presentation by “Kid Power”. All are invited to attend this special informational meeting.
Barnes and Noble Fundraiser… On Sunday, November 22nd, Barnes and Noble will donate 10% of your sale total to AMS!
Just mention the school code 10042356 when you go to the register. That Sunday visit the wish list display in the children’s section to purchase gifts for our library and teachers. Please urge friends and family to use the code when shopping at bn.com or when calling in orders. Shop and earn money for AMS!
AMS Arts and Crafts Bazaar… Mark your calendars! The first AMS Arts and Crafts Bazaar is scheduled from 1 – 3 PM on Sunday, December 6th, in the AMS gym. This is a great opportunity to shop for the holidays. You can find unique, well-priced items from local artists and craftspeople – and support AMS at the same time! Home-baked treats will also be on sale.
Mix-it-up at Lunch a Success… Thank you to all the students, teachers, and staff who participated in Mix-It-Up at Lunch Day. Everyone's overall positive energy and respect made it an activity to enjoy, not to fear! The Student Voices Diversity Club also would like to thank the wonderful parent volunteers: Kristen Dachler, Katia Hazen, Pat Low, and Bon Miller. Congratulations to the following six pairs of students who won raffle prizes: Fernanda C., Serenity M., Lincoln C., Galen F., Jee-soo L., Emily W., Randall M., Max C., Camille G., Evan M., Isabelle R., and Daisy E.
Winter Break… School will be closed for Winter Break from December 21 – January 1. Friday, December 18th is a Minimum Day and dismissal is at 12:30 PM. Classes will resume on Monday, January 4th.
Attendance/Illness… As important as attendance is to your child and to the school, if your child is sick he/she should stay at home.
We ask that your child not return to school until they have been fever free for 24 hours. You should always report your child’s absences to (510) 558-3614. More information is posted on our school web page.
